Handbag Favorites of 2017

I’m a bag girl. And 2017 definitely fueled my love for handbags. Because of this, I feel like my year was defined by my favorite bags. From black to bright yellow to interesting prints, no bag was discriminated against as my collection grew. I tend to put more thought and time into what bag I’m going to purchase or use over what outfit I’m going to wear; I love using bags to accessorize and complete my outfits. Each of my favorite bags encompasses a specific category that adds dimension to my wardrobe.

Classic Black

The Chanel Classic Flap rectangular mini in black caviar leather with brushed silver hardware was a staple for me throughout the year. It’s simplicity and timelessness made it easy for me to get away with pairing it with any outfit. It would dress up a casual outfit or add the perfect elegance to a fancier look. It’s just big enough to fit my iPhone 7+ along with a small wallet, my keys, and a lip balm. The leather is also nice and sturdy so as I used this bag throughout the year, I didn’t feel as if I had to baby it.

Perfect Pattern

The Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis in the Monogram Infrarouge is probably one of my favorite purchases to date. I desperately wanted the Palm Springs mini backpack in this print but it was completely sold out by the time I came to my senses and decided to go on the hunt for it. On a trip to New York, I found this bag in Saks and I knew I had to snatch it. The Infrarouge print is what truly reignited my love for the Louis Vuitton monogram. The canvas is coated so it is extremely durable, and the inside is a unique deep olive suede. The feminine and posh silhouette of the bag combined with the edgy print creates the perfect crossbody to add some classy rocker vibes to an outfit.

Pop of Color

I adore the Chanel Classic Flap rectangular minis and these two bright colored versions are no exception. The perfect shape and size combined with these perfect red and yellow colors; ketchup and mustard never looked so good. I love wearing neutral colors so these crossbodies were must-haves throughout the year when I wanted to add some flair to a somewhat boring outfit. Red is one of favorite color so having a red bag was a must. Throughout 2017, I also cultivated a fondness for the color yellow, and this bag in the beautiful chevron print quenched my desire for a yellow addition to my collection.

Trendy & Funky

2017 saw my continued love for the Fendi monster trend. This perfectly small backpack fits all the essentials while delivering a punch of the perfect combination of cuteness and badassness. It was the perfect addition to any outfit that needed some spice and flavor. I’m very happy I snatched this bag when I did because it seems to be out of production. The pop of blue fur and pink leather add some slight color to a look. The bag is also a durable nylon material that is easily wiped and cleaned.

Functional Fit-All

Last but definitely not least, the Balenciaga Arena Leather Classic City Bag was very well-loved by me throughout the year. A Mary Poppins bag for sure, the bag fit everything I needed and then some. I found that when I needed to cart around a lot of items, this bag served as my go-to. One of my favorite things about this bag is that it’s way bigger than it looks; I can even fit my 13-inch MacBook Pro in it perfectly and still have room for my other necessities. I found myself using this bag for class sometimes when I couldn’t be bothered to lug around a large backpack on my walk to class.

Although these were my favorite and most used bags of 2017, I still loved and styled the other bags in my collection. I can’t wait to see how I restyle these amazing bags and which other bags I gravitate toward in 2018. Check my insta to stay updated on my latest bag favorites!
